Cuba is my favorite! I prefere the south where you still can find untouched cays and islands. Out of a dream! Cuba is different! The Cubans are very friendly and helpful. Its very dificult to find this kind of people on other places in the Caribbean. (I do not speak here about the Autorities...) There is no crime in Cuba. Cienfuegos is the biggest and together with Trinidad the most beautiful city on our trip. After a nice dinner in the Club Nautico we sail to Trinidad and further on to Cayo Largo. The great Lagune invite us for snorkeling and the white beach let us have a sunbath. Continuing to the Canal de Rosario we sail to the Isola de Juventud where I promise you one of the most beautiful bays in the whole world! Nuevo Gerona, the capitol town of the Island has maybe not the nicest Harbour but has his own charme, maybe because rarely tourist find her way to this place.
Note: Cause of the US Embargo the Cuban Immigration will not stamp your passport!
Belize has probably the best sailing of the world! The tradewind blows regulary out of the east. This means for us: Perfect sailing with half wind. This is the way my Catamaran ASHANTY like it! The second larges barriere reef of the world protect us from the waves, means sailing like on a lake! And no seasickness! If you like diving I will bring you to the best spots and organise a official dive guide for you!
We are in a protected area. Thatfore we
will drop our anchor only over sand and pay the the parc fee to the rangers that visit us every evening!
The Bay Islands are located in the north of Honduras. This archipel has three major Islands: Utila, Roatan and Guanaja. The 'Backpacker'- Island Utila is the westernmost.Over 15 diveshops offer the best and cheapest diving worldwide. when we have enough from the loud discotheques and bars, we sail to Cayos Cochinos, two protected islands about 4 to 6 sailinghours away! From here to Roatan, just 3 hours sailing and we will find beautiful resorts, and cristal clear water on the west end of the Island. Sailing to Guanaja, the easternmost Islands is not that easy. But we will start a nightsail using the landwind so we arrive in the morning before the tradewind blows the untouched Island. No tourism, the poeple live here like hundert years ago.
Note: English (Pirat English) and not Spanish is the lenguage of the Bay Islands.
